As an older woman, I look back on parenting with a stronger conviction that Christian parents must not abdicate their roles of teaching the truth of God to the church or to the youth minister. Scripture tasks Christian parents with speaking the truth of God to their children. Deuteronomy 6:7 says parents are to “impress them on your children; talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” We are to repeat God’s truths again and again to our children. Christian parents should fill their minds with the Word of God, so the overflow comes out of their mouths. There is truth to the saying, “What is down in the well comes up in the bucket.” Let us fill our wells with the truth of God, which transforms. — Kathi Holcomb
