I love the word of God. It brings healing, conviction, and transformation. It offers truth—who God is and how to live—guidance for those seeking direction, and renewal for the mind and heart. As I was reading this morning, one particular passage touched my heart. It was 1 Corinthians 9:24-27. Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 25 Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; 27 but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27) Over the past year, numerous significant changes have occurred in my life, including relocation back…

The sidebars of life are calling our names at every turn. They do not require a lot of effort and often promote camouflaged victories that are easily obtained. What exactly are the sidebars of life? They are basically moments where “hard” is traded for “easy” and comfort for discomfort. It is a period where the “roads less taken” remain the “roads less taken.”

There she was–my beautiful granddaughter Hensley. “Nana, I want to go to the playground,” she stated. “Okay,” I replied. On this particular day, I was staying at a cabin surrounded by a beautiful lake. Frequently visited by family, the area afforded breathtaking scenery. Close to my cabin was the perfect place for kids to play. So, there we were–Nana and granddaughter.
