Make a “special” birthday cake with your child and let him/her help. A cake mix and canned icing with a few—or a lot—of sprinkles will suffice. Then let them decorate it with some of their small [clean] toys. This is simple for the mom and I promise you your child will be so proud and pleased with it because they “made it.” If you’re a perfectionist, just brag on the cake anyway and tell them you love it!!! This can be done at almost any age (say two or three and up). —Cathy, Fort Worth, TX
