Several years ago, the Lord convicted me of the words I was speaking into my children and how I was to see them as He does. Second Corinthians 5:16a says, “From now on, then, we do not know anyone from a worldly perspective.” Instead of placing labels on them, I wanted my words to reflect the finished product of Christ. Here’s an example: I could say, “Ellie, why do you whine all the time?” or conversely, “Ellie, you’re way too sweet to be talking like that.” In Christ, she is sweet, no matter what her actions were at the moment. That biblical perspective changed my attitude and helped my children, and now my grandchildren, see themselves through His eyes.
