Moms, guard against the temptation to be popular with your kids. Stand for what is right and lead your children to do the same. I remember one evening my children had invited some friends to our home to watch movies. I tried to guard what my children watched on television; however, on this particular evening, someone had brought in a movie that was unacceptable. To most, it was not that bad, but to me, I knew it was not God-honoring. I removed the movie and told the kids they were not allowed to watch the movie. Was I popular at that moment with my kids, or even their friends? No. But that was not my goal. Let us choose God’s glory over popularity with our kids. They will thank you—one day!

“For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10).
