Every home needs laughter! Laugh about things with your child—laugh a lot! See the humor in the everyday. Laughter is a stress reliever. Try to train yourself not to overreact to things like spilt milk or other messes (of which there will be many)! Your child is usually watching you waiting for your response. “Just say something like oh my goodness, let’s clean it up. We’ll try to be more careful next time!” even if you’re thinking, “I can’t believe you just made your tenth mess of the day and I am so exhausted.” Find the humor in the small things. Proverbs 17:22 tells us, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones” [NKJV].
