What is the most important thing to build in a child? His character. So, what do we need to emphasize or “brag on” the most? Even though grades, being good in sports, or looking their best may be of high priority, it is not the highest priority. We need to call attention to our children being kind, truthful, humble, staying with a task, showing empathy, and other character traits that will go with them through life. Beauty and physical strength fade, and most of us do not remember what grades we scored a few years ago. Thus, watch for opportunities to affirm them every time they show true character. — Debbie
