I cannot overemphasize enough the need for a morning time with the Lord. In my own life, it has been vital to listen to His voice before I let other voices of social media, emails, expectations, and failures enter into my day. By starting with God’s voice and truth, I am able to center on His goodness and faithfulness and not depend so much on what I do or don’t do that day. When my kids were little, this was harder due to lack of sleep or them coming down early, but even those interruptions were invitations for them to grab their Bibles and read beside me. It may not go perfectly each day, but it helps to set the tone for all the next moments and models a dependency on the Lord that both you and your children need to see.
