Desires and dreams–we all have them. Yet oftentimes when the desire appears slow in evolving, we may be tempted to give up. When God makes clear the desires were placed in our hearts by Him, we must hang on, for, at the appointed time, He will bring them to fruition.
Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4 NASB)
For years I have desired to both speak and write. I started writing when I was in junior high. I wrote songs, poems, VBS musicals for two churches, a Christmas play for my home church, and later, youth Bible studies. I absolutely loved writing then and still do to this day.
I remember sitting in my home church, in my early twenties, listening to a special guest speaker, and desiring deep within my heart to do the same. However, I was very shy in those days. God had planted the desire, but a lot of growth had to come before I was used on a speaking platform. God went to work on my heart, using everything I went through, even trials I brought on myself, to grow me and make me more like His Son. Later, He called me to entrust to others the lessons He had entrusted to me.
Just because something hasn’t happened yet–does not mean we missed what God is calling us to do.Tweet
For a long time now, I have wanted to start a podcast, interviewing special guests and speaking on topics near and dear to my heart. As I found myself waiting on God’s timing, I felt as though it would be years before this came to pass. Yet to my surprise, God gave a green light. It was His time, it was His call.
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—2 A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. 3 A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. 4 A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.
5 A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. 6 A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. 7 A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. 8 A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NASB)
God has an appointed time for those desires to come to fruition. As you wait for God’s timing, don’t give up.Tweet
Today, I am smiling from ear to ear as I am now preparing to launch a new podcast. I will be conducting interviews with special guests while entrusting to others God’s word. I am so excited!
What boat is awaiting your travel? What dream has God placed within your heart? What desire is burning strong? At God’s appointed time, He will bring to fruition, the desire He has placed in your heart. Until that moment comes, let the Lord prepare you for what He is getting ready to do in and through your life. Then when He calls, answer Him and move forward with Him to your destiny. Remember, never give up! At just the right time, God will step on the scene of what you once deemed impossible. He is faithful!
