“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” Romans 12:1
I had a love for God most amazing. I enjoyed serving Him by organizing one event after the other. With a passion I shared the Gospel and rejoiced when others came to experience God’s love. However in all my serving, I lost sight of a greater importance. And that was, “Complete Surrender.”
It was of the darkest moments of my desert time. As I was sitting outside my apartment one evening, I knew things had to change. I finally stopped running and turned my life over to God. I came to understand that He wanted me, more than anything I could do for Him.
No matter if we are treading through the desert or standing on a high mountain, surrender is imperative. God wants all of us, not just a portion. The Word of God states, “Present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” We are to lay it all down, holding nothing back.
One of the greatest prayers I have ever heard of surrender came from a missionary whom I heard speak in my young twenties. She sighed, “Lord, do whatever you need to do to me, to be able to do whatever You want to do through me.” Her life was His, with no strings attached. She was a beautiful picture of surrender.
Remember, no one can take care of your life and all it contains as Jesus can. Release to Him today your desert moments as well as all you have been trying to manage in order to experience your Savior like never before.
Prayer: Lord help me to give You total control of my life, without refrain, so that Your Spirit may work unhindered through every part of my being.
